Canine sex therapist ‘Doctor Angela’, reveals she is seeing a huge increase in dogs attending her weekly clinic with this issue. “It is like an epidemic,” the renowned dog whisperer says, “and can be utterly devastating for the partner who is asked to behave like ‘a complete human’.”

While previous generations just went at it ‘where and whenever the impulse took them,’ O’Meara points out, today’s dogs are more assertive about what they want from their partners and that can cause problems in both directions.

“The modern, confident dog,” she stressed, “generally finds the idea of ‘warm, intimate sex,’ utterly demeaning.”
