Johnson Says He Thought Party Was Work Because He Doesn’t Know What Work Looks Like

Boris ‘Crikey’ Johnson said today that “in hindsight” he’s sorry now he never had a real job before he got into politics. “How was I supposed to know what a work event looks like, I’m a public school boy, for heaven’s sake!” he explained. “I went straight into politics from Oxford. It’s what you do, isn’t it?”

Johnson was giving evidence to the Commons Privileges committee’s inquiry into whether he deliberately misled parliament over Covid rule breaches.

“That’s why I never knew what to say to people at those bloody awful ‘leaving dos’ I used to get invited to,” he said afterwards, “I’d never had a real job to leave”.
