Anyone Pretending To Be A Garda Commissioner Reporting A Missing Phone, Will Be Fined
The Garda Press Office has warned that anyone ‘pretending to be a Garda commissioner reporting a missing phone,’ can and will be charged with ‘making a prank call’ and ‘wasting police time’.
The announcement follows the news that only three of 12 mobile phones sought by the Charleton Tribunal from former Garda commissioners Martin Callinan and Noirin O’Sullivan, have been recovered.
Press reports responded by claiming, ‘The thin blue line has gone dead’.
The press office has not responded to the accusation that its warning has undermined the public’s ‘willing suspension of disbelief’ with regard to police conduct.
