Man Died Surrounded By His Family After Stubbornly Refusing To Surrender
Arkansas man Geoffrey Chesnut bled out and died yesterday, while surrounded by his family. The avid gun collector’s life could have been saved but he stubbornly refused to surrender.
“He died surrounded by his loved ones,” Mrs Talula Chesnut sobbed, “although he was hidden from their direct line of fire by the garden shed he was crouching behind.”
Mrs Chesnut said only the couple’s two adult children were at home when he calmly began loading a shotgun and a pair of revolvers at the kitchen table. As he did so, he explained that their mother had told him she would never leave him and consequently, there was no hope left.
They immediately left the kitchen and took up easily defendable positions around the property, as their father had taught them. When he emerged shooting from the hip, they were quickly able to bring him down with flesh wounds that would not in themselves, have been immediately fatal.
But Mr. Chesnut refused to accept he was surrounded and repeatedly called out “I ain’t no surrender monkey”.
“We like to think it’s how he would have wanted to go?” Wayne said. “Seeing as that seems to be exactly how he wanted to go…”
