Musk Embracing Managerial Incompetence Like It’s An Emerging Art Form
After mass layoffs, wild policy swerves (often followed by swift reversals) and global twitter outages, Elon Musk continues to baffle.
Yesterday, he was forced to apologise after tweeting that a talented disabled employee “did no actual work”. The incident recalled a previous tweet in which he called a British caver who managed the heroic rescue of a group of schoolboys trapped in an underwater cave, “pedo guy”.
But following his latest communications screwup, the great communicator took to twitter to blame his behaviour on others and to advise the world on the best way to communicate. It was, Musk tweeted, “better to talk than to tweet”! Thereby publicly undermining the company’s primary purpose of encouraging people to communicate using the social media platform.
One shell shocked employee, floundering about for an explanation, eventually suggested Musk may be testing in his own brain, the computer chip implants that US regulators refused him permission to test on volunteers.
“Because that’s ah…about the only scenario that comes close to explaining the last 24 hours?” he reflected, “Not that it comes particularly close…”
