Taylor Swift To Record Banjo Album Of Marvin Gaye Covers

Taylor Swift has responded to criticism of her banjo-based ‘reimagining’ of Earth, Wind & Fire’s classic funk hit, ‘September‘ with the news that she is to record ‘a banjo album’ of Marvin Gaye’s greatest hits.

Industry insiders believe this is a canny move to target the hitherto much neglected, ‘Deliverance’ demographic. A group that up until now, has largely been ignored by artists operating outside of the ‘jug & washboard’ musical instrument range.

Music critics raged over Swift’s ‘black & white minstrels’ version of ‘September’ for the way it ‘sucked all the joy out of the original, stripped the song of its soul, syncopation and style until all that remained was elevator music’.

Meanwhile Swift, known to her fanbase by her hardrock nickname ‘Tay Tay,’ has refused to comment on reaction to the recording.

However her website has promoted a series of delighted tweets from devoted middle schoolers. The site says her favourite one comes from Vanessa which said “Really hit me in the feels nuff said”.

A spokesman has since confirmed she’s undaunted by the challenge of recreating the lush, seductive vibe of ‘Heard It Through The Grapevine‘ on a five stringed instrument.
