“Your Chagall’s Worth Shag All,” Woman Told

A woman who paid $90,000 for a Marc Chagall painting at a Sotheby’s auction in 1994, has been told it’s a fake that must be destroyed.

“Shag off!” Stephanie Clegg said, when told of the decision.

The painting was reappraised for $100,000 in 2008 but now an expert panel in France wants to destroy it.

“Imagine my chagrin,” she later said, when asked how she felt when she heard the news.
