Uvalde: Kids May Not Have Been Safe From Shooter But Totally Protected From Books

A year after a gunman shot and killed 19 children and two adults in a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school, Governor Gregg Abott (R) had some words of reassurance for the public. “Our kids may not have been safe from the shooter,” he said, “but at least they died free from the scourge of ‘woke’ books!”

The governer then turned to point at a billboard behind him, which said #owningthelibs and said, “Never forget who was really to blame here?”

Abott promised to bring in tough new laws that would prohibit school libraries from stocking any books his party did not approve of. “In this way, victims of future shooters will be even safer from books that can’t hurt them right up until the moment they die. And I know you will take some comfort from that, as will I.”

Afterwards, he posed for photographs while holding a bible and said “Although prayer can be a solution, guns are not the problem”. Abott then called for a moment of silence in memory of the victims.

The grieving families responded by calling for “immediate and total silence from the governor”.
